SEO – an update.

Google does not pay attention to your Keywords tag anymore. As a matter of fact – they ignore it.

Matt Cutts explained that due to all the abuse of this meta tag due to people keyword spamming it and stuffing it with irrelevant keyword, the search engine now ignores this meta tag.

This does not however mean that Google ignores ALL meta tags. There are several that the search engine definitely uses. The ‘description’ tag is sometimes used as the text for search engine results snippets. This tag isn’t used to influence ranking though.

That’s very interesting. All that time I used researching good keywords was a waste of time?

NO – not at all. REMEMBER: Google does not use the Keywords tag anymore, but other search engines do.
