Here is a website that can generate Latin filler text with HTML tags. Clicking on any of the blocks automatically copies the text to your clipboard. It was created by Chris Coyier of css-tricks.com
Are you tired of having to write custom scripts for IE6? This is a handy little script that politely informs the user to upgrade. I absolutely detest IE6, and I will be using this script on some of my sites.
Here is another useful website for all web designers and developers. It’s an online tool that has 100+ tests for your website.
Sometimes when I ask the client for a copy of their logo I get a letterhead or business card given to me, so I then ask if they have a digital version of the logo, which is greeted with a puzzled look and “I’ve got it on a CD but I’m not sure where it is”. Sometimes you get given a brochure, advert or a link to a website and they want that font. So what do you do when all you have is the image and want to know the name of the font? You can spend hours searching through thousands of fonts, or online there is a handy site called WhatTheFont, it’s still in beta but I have used it a couple of times with great success.
We all know and love Firefox. If you use Firefox, especially for web design/developement, you know that there are some very nice Firefox plugins to help you with your productivity. Most of you will know Firebug, mentioned in an earlier post on this blog. Firebug is perfect if you want quick access to the code in any page. You can target any element to see the markup, the CSS, the layout, and the DOM in an instant. Firebug is much loved by many designers. But Firebug isn’t the only tool that Firefox has up it’s sleeve. There are several more that most people don’t even know about.

We have all heard of the Microblogging phenomenon. It’s the all the rage these days and everybody is, and have been for a while, talking about it. So what is it all about? Well, in short, microblogging is a way to connect with other people to share information. It’s the sms version of a blog, if you will. Think about your status update in Facebook. (For those who don’t have Facebook: Welcome to Earth. The address you’re looking for is here.) You can update your ’status’ at any time, telling the world (or rather everyone on your Facebook contact list) what you are thinking/doing/want/need/etc at the time.
Domains. Anyone with a website owns one. It’s what you print on your business card. It’s how you find any other website. It’s how any other person on this planet locates yours. But how many people actually know how they work?
